This thread is for new members to introduce themselves if they so choose and for everyone else to get a chance to say hello I'll start off by saying my name is Trae Anderson. I've been dancing 20 years and competing for 19. I'm in the Keepers of the Dance and am from Fayetteville, NC. I love the dance, the music, the community and everything else associated with our dancing world.

This will be a lot of work, Trae...Great idea and look forward to keeping up with what is going on in "our world".
I'm just an old lady who loves to dance, loves the OD Pavilion, loves the music and lucky enough to have been recognized through the Shagger's Hall of Fame. We are proud to see so many of you former juniors keeping our music and dance alive and passing it on to the younger generation. Anything I can do to help you here, please let me know. I handle the Facebook page(s) for the OD Pavilion and anything you want posted there please let me know! I am going to post this link to our OD Pavilion Social Shag Club and OD Pavilion pages.
Thanks....Kristye

Trae, think this is pretty awesome where both older and younger folks can join together to discuss different topics. I love this dance and have been doing it for many years though not as well as most of you. I have not won any awards nor am I a member of any group honored by their peers in the shag world. I HAVE been honored with a lot of friendships in this community and everyday I see a young person with the same gleam in their eye as I have had for many years ,I smile.............that is all the awards I need.

Thanks Trae for this great site and thanks Michael Norris for passing it on via FB. My name is Bev Solazzo, I live in Chicago and am a dance instructor at May I Have This Dance studio. I am so lucky to be our studio's Carolina Shag instructor. I just love your dance and want to spread it to everyone here. Our students are beginning to ask a lot about shag. Those that have taken a class have found it fascinating. I have also taken some of your phenomenal footwork to incorporate in WCS patterns and they love it here. Any tips you all might have on the lead/follow in shag, I am here to listen and learn. Thanks so much for this great gift of your dance. I fell in love with it at the very first USA Grand Nationals and have enjoyed taking privates with Charlie and Jackie, Michael, Sam and Brennar. Thanks so much to all of you. I hope to attend more shag events in the future!

This is nice Trae! It's good for people like me who are newbies! I have been learning to shag for almost a year now...and I love the dance. It feels like home if that makes any sense. Thanks for having me!...Kelli (Old Cupcake Lady)

This is already an awesome site. I love the dance, and I especially love to watch the younger folks. Took some lessons for a couple of years in Fayetteville but have been out of it for the past 4 years. I would love to get back up to speed. Does anyone know where lessons are given in the Clinton, NC area?
Keep up the good work with the site and with carrying on the dance. Tammy ( tambar1)

Trae, this is a wonderful idea! For those of us who don't live in the Carolinas, but are die-hard shaggers, it will be great to be able to get in touch with other shaggers. I live in Jacksonville, FL and can't remember a time that I wasn't dancing. I started shagging about 15 years ago and there is nothing else like it. I will gladly pass along the site to all of my fellow shaggers down here in the Sunshine State. Thank you!!
